Court Information for District Courts In Oklahoma
Oklahoma’s state court system is made up of 77 district courts, with general jurisdiction over most civil and criminal cases. Each district court has either single or multiple District Judges, with at least one Associate District Judge. The judges in Oklahoma are elected to serve a four-year term.
If there is a vacancy in any of the district courts, the Governor will appoint someone to serve until the next election. When necessary, due to a heavy caseload for example, a Special Judge may be appointed to assist the District Judge.
